Usually Astral Sleep is not the "battle of the bands"-participator, but since we have long time ago decided that we would very proudly play live in midsummer festival Nummirock 2010 in Finland, we had to participate to the contest they are helding.

You can vote straight away with your facebook account. It is very recommended to vote if you want the Finnish midsummer celebrators to witness a live show worth watching. And of course it is recommended to come see us too, if you come from abroad we will personally buy you a beer!

This will propably be the last update to this site. We will be launching a whole new website once the album release closes in.... Stay tuned.

The Beast is rising..

The gig at Lepakkomies 10.10.2009 started out pretty badly when Saattue had to cancel the event. Despite hours of searching and thousand of phone calls we did not manage to find any replacement for the Finnish rock doom sextet. This however did not affect in ours or Colosseums performance in negative way, and the night was a success! Thanks to Colosseum for playing a great gig and every visitor for being there! No pictures this time, but we managed to get another video of the song "Landscapes".
In another news, Solitude Productions has finally released "Rising of Yog-Sothoth: Tribute to Thergothon" 2CD, that includes our obscure version of the classic song "Yet the watchers guard". A few copies can be ordered through us, the price is 10 euros. Be aware that our debut album "Unawakening" is now available with decreased price of 8 euros, and some shirts are available by the price of 10-11 euros.

We are currently working on finishing the upcoming mCD. More info when the time comes..

Lust is satisfied... for a moment.

The first real live act of Astral Sleep has been completed at the date 22.08.2009 in Heavy Corner, Helsinki Finland. The gig went very well considering all the Spinal Tap-like troubles we encountered during the whole day. Maybe they will be revealed when "The Dirt by Astral Sleep" is released 15 years from now, hehe. Anyway, the next conjuration will be performed at Lepakkomies, Helsinki Finland in 10.10.2009.

Lust will be satisfied!

What would be a better day to update news about the band than a hangover day after a weekend's drinking and celebrating the finnish midsummer, which was cold and rainy as usual. But Astral Sleep is going strong. There are over 20 reviews available about "Unawakening" and most of them can be found from the Media section. Some reviewers have loved the album and some hated it, which is good since our music is not the kind that everyone will like.
In two weeks Markus will be released from the services of the finnish army and that is one of the reasons we have booked our first gigs. So far Astral Sleep can be seen on stage:

Lust for Live and first clips from the new MiniCD revealed!

Since the last update, there have been some improvement. We have updated some reviews of "Unawakening" to Media section. There are some more reviews coming up and lost in the depths of internet, so we will maybe update more of them in the future.
The song "Cosmic Key" was played on Doom Radio on March 15th. Unfortunately the broadcast is no longer available, but hopefully some of you got the chanche to hear it.

We have started the first actions in order to complete live performances. Few bands have been contacted in order to get fully fuctioning 3-4 band act. 06.06.08 Astral Sleep recorded a new mini-CD. We have sent some promotional packages in order to find a releaser for the mCD and full-lenght albums yet to come. Any label interested in the package should contact us.

Haunting new year!

The year 2008 has passed away and the world has moved to the year 2009. 2008 was a great year for Astral Sleep, since we got our first album out and our first drummer in. 2009 will bring new challenges to us, and hopefully we will fullfil them stronger than ever.
It has been three months since the release of "Unawakening", but we already have the next recording ready.
In 06.06.2008 Astral Sleep entered D-Studio to record the upcoming MCD! This 3 track recording will be our heaviest and most surprising record we have made so far. It is also first one to include Jiri's drumming.
We will be sending the MCD to record companies worldwide during the spring in order to engage a long time recording contract.

Hopefully 2009 will bring out the dawning of our first live performance. The year 2008 included lots of rehearsing, but due our personal busies we have not been in contact with significant gig organisers yet. When we are booked near you, be sure to check us out, because Astral Sleep on stage is unique like our music.

"UNAWAKENING" to be released 21.09.2008!

After long months and years of hard work, Astral Sleep's first full-lenght album, "Unawakening" will finally be released on the date 21.09.2008! The album will be released by a growing Russian Doom Metal label Solitude Productions, and will be available through various distros all over the world, mainly from Solitude Productions netstore, and our own ordering form.

WE ARE BACK!

In this date, Astral Sleep has finally risen from the grave! It is 100% confirmed, that the debut album, "UNAWAKENING", will be released during the summer of 2008 by Solitude Productions! Preordering the album is already available through ordering form. This time available to the whole world!

The ordering form is also the place you should be writing at, if you are interested in Astral Sleep T-shirts. Sizes are S-XL (sleeveless versions available too), colour is black and design is our logo. Prices are 12 euro's for the T-shirt and 13 euro's for the sleeveless + postages.

Since the beginning of the year 2008, Astral Sleep has had a permanent drummer, for the first time in the bands history! Previous session drummer Tommi Häyrynen decided to concentrate on his main bands. Therefore, Jiri Pyörälä from Mäntsälä underground city has been rehearsing as a full-time Astral Sleep drummer for the whole year. Check out Media for his appearance and check out Bio for his story.

Besides our album, Solitude Productions is also releasing a "Tribute to Thergothon" collection CD, which includes our acoustic version of the song "Yet the watchers guard".
